RIDING home from work yesterday, I am approaching this intersection:

I am rolling up to that stop sign, with a van behind me. As I approach the stop sign, the van guns it, hoping to beat me to the sign. He does not even get close.

But then while I'm slowing my roll up to the sign, with him in the same lane as me and on my left, he starts to make a right turn. Into me.

I pull past him anyway, then turn around and shake my head.

He responds to this by yelling "You're the asshole who..."

I didn't hear the rest as I continued on my way. My thoughts were "there's a reason your driving around a painter's van and wearing a pair of painter's overalls, and that's because you're a fucking idiot."

And it's no wonder he can't drive worth a shit. When you're that dumb, you're dumb at everything.

* *

About a month back I was riding home from work, and I rolled right through that stop sign. I roll through that sign a lot, actually, because it's a rural stop sign and I'm clipped in and who cares. I do slow down, so it's not like I'm flying through the intersection.

Anyway, I rolled through, and about twenty seconds later a guy in a convertible pulls up beside me on the road, slows down, and says "Don't think I didn't see you run that stop sign.." to which I responded. With a shrug.

Maybe it's that intersection.
somedays you don't think much about friends, other days you find out an old friend was recently arrested for over 100 counts of child pornography.

wish i was kidding.

the weekend to come

some of you know, some of you don't. this weekend is the third anniversary of our beer blog, and we're having a party at indy's newest brewery. we hit up all our brewing and distributor friends, hoping they'd donate beer for the event. they did. one distributor also volunteered to pay for the commerative glassware for the event. we'll have on 8 or so beer from the host brewery (sun king), and 13 beers from guest breweries (founders, mad anthony, upland, oaken barrel, three floyds, lafayette brewing co, rock bottom brewing, dogfish head, broad ripple brewpub, barley island, and mad river/cavalier distributing). all donated. we charged $30 a ticket, included food from a chef that's opening a new restaurant.. and we've got 150 people attending. it's been a highly rewarding exercise, and one of the best parts is that a lot of the people attending are already friends. odd to think what might have happened had we not got involved with hbg - i can't say for sure i'd be living in Indy any more. We were pretty bored before that all happened. So that's been a blessing.

if you know a better word that blessing for someone who's borderline agnostic/atheist then let me know.

nate's coming out, so that's an added bonus.

sunday... well i haven't mentioned that fulham have started up, playing both in europa cup and premier league action... so far they're 4-0 on the seasons. sunday they play chelsea. effin' chelsea. last year...

this year we'll hope for an outright win.

LNOUJ2

Hey we're looking at 9/12/09 as a possible date for a lnouj picnic (and maybe even paintball this time). I'm just looking to see who's available and who's got problems. With the date.. I know most of you have problems.

Lemme know.

oh man this is awesome

riding to work this morning, i'm riding with traffic, coming up to an intersection where a guy is sitting in his truck, looking at me... he's looking right at me, and i start to take the lane just to be extra sure. and then he looks at me again, pulls out in front of me, spins the tires and throws rocks.

i yell "what the hell, man?" and he turns around, stares and me and gives me the finger.

i'm gonna find his house tonight and burn it down.

i've had this idea for a site (or something) where every weekend i go on some sort of adventure, be it a hike or a bike ride or a murderin' spree or something, and then i take pictures and write about it and thus my photography and writing and cultural experience all benefit and then when i die i've got this list of all these things i did. and maybe i start at home and draw a circle and work in that circle and then expand the circle eventually and in the end i'm just bored lately.

last night jon called me out of the blue, as he was sitting at a beachside resort in san francisco, where he now lives. i suspect he was feeling a bit lonely, as one is sure to feel when they've moved somewhere new and don't know anyone. in any case, i'm always quite glad to hear from jon so the call was a gift.

san francisco is one of those beer heaven places, like portland, in that there are famous breweries all around. San Francisco's beer map is a tour de force... check out indy in comparison.

In any case, Gina and I plan to visit, and the sooner the better. I'm hoping for sometime early next year, perhaps in January.
